Beaches Near Barcelona Cruise Port: 5 Beaches, Leave-By Times
Where the ships dock
Barcelona is a docking port. Nothing tenders.
- Moll Adossat (terminals A–E and H): most ships. About 3–3.5 km from the Columbus Monument, a 25–45 minute walk along a breakwater road with no shade. Use the Cruise Bus.
- World Trade Center terminals (Nord and Sud): smaller ships only, a 5–10 minute walk from the Columbus Monument.
The Cruise Bus serves the Adossat terminals only. It runs about every 20 minutes, more often when ships arrive and leave, and drops you beside the World Trade Center, 400–500 m from the Columbus Monument. It takes card payment on board or a PDF ticket bought online. No cash. All the beaches below start from that stop.
Sant Miquel
Getting there: Cruise Bus to the World Trade Center, then walk along Port Vell into La Barceloneta. Buses V15 and V19 stop on Passeig de Joan de Borbó, about 200 m from the sand. Time: about 15 minutes on foot from the Cruise Bus stop. Cost: free. Cruise Bus €5 return (2026). Deckchair and parasol hire in season. Leave by (17:30 all-aboard): 16:00. That is 17:30 − 75 min at the Cruise Bus stop − 15 min walk.
Sant Miquel is 420 m of sand by Plaça del Mar, between Sant Sebastià and Barceloneta. The city council calls it one of the busiest stretches of the seafront. It has showers, toilets (including adapted ones), lifeguard towers, a first-aid post, bike hire and restaurants. Like every city beach, it is smoke-free. We could not find a checked sunbed price.
Sant Sebastià
Getting there: walk as for Sant Miquel and turn south, or take the Bus Nàutic water bus from Moll de Drassanes, beside the Columbus Monument, to Moll de Llevant at the south end of the beach. Time: about 15 minutes on foot to the north end, plus up to 10 minutes along the 660 m beach. The Bus Nàutic takes 10 minutes. Cost: free. Bus Nàutic €1.90 single, €2.85 return (2026), every 30 minutes. Leave by (17:30 all-aboard): 15:50 on foot. That is 17:30 − 75 − 15 walk − 10 to cross the beach. By Bus Nàutic it is 15:25: 17:30 − 75 − 10 walk from Drassanes to the Cruise Bus stop − 10 boat − 30 possible wait.
Sant Sebastià is the city's most westerly beach, about 660 m by 55 m, with the W Hotel at its southern end. About 70% of users are from Barcelona, and it has sailing and sports clubs. Facilities: deckchair and parasol hire, showers, adapted toilets, lifeguard towers, kiosks and wooden walkways down to the water.
The Bus Nàutic runs 9:30–21:20 in summer and 8:30–20:30 in winter. On the way back, walking is faster than waiting for the boat.
Barceloneta
Getting there: walk on north from Sant Miquel. Buses 47, 59 and D20 stop on Passeig Marítim (Pepe Rubianes), about 100 m from the sand. Time: about 15 minutes on foot from the Cruise Bus stop to the start of the beach front. Cost: free. Deckchair and parasol hire in season. Leave by (17:30 all-aboard): 16:00. That is 17:30 − 75 − 15 walk. If you settle at the far end, by the Gas breakwater, leave 10 minutes earlier.
Barceloneta beach proper is 422 m by 79 m. It is the beach foreign visitors choose most, and the busiest. It has lockers, which most beaches here do not, plus showers, toilets, lifeguards, bike hire and restaurants. In summer, volunteers help people with reduced mobility into the sea with a hoist and an amphibious chair. Pickpockets work this beach. Do not leave anything on your towel while you swim.
Somorrostro
Getting there: walk on along Passeig Marítim past Barceloneta, or bus 59 from Drassanes to the Hospital del Mar stop. Time: about 25–30 minutes on foot. This is our estimate from its position between Barceloneta (15 minutes) and Nova Icària (35–40 minutes); the bus journey time is not checked. Cost: free. Deckchair and parasol hire in season. Leave by (17:30 all-aboard): 15:45. That is 17:30 − 75 − 30 walk.
Somorrostro runs 522 m from the Gas breakwater to the Olympic Port, and is wide (114 m on average). It is calmer than Barceloneta by day. Facilities: lockers, showers, toilets, kiosks, restaurants and lifeguard towers. It keeps toilets open out of season too.
Nova Icària
Getting there: walk the whole seafront past Barceloneta and the Olympic Port, or bus 59 from Drassanes. Metro L4 (Ciutadella | Vila Olímpica) is the nearest station. Time: 35–40 minutes on foot from the Cruise Bus stop. Cost: free. Deckchair and parasol hire in season. Leave by (17:30 all-aboard): 15:35. That is 17:30 − 75 − 40 walk.
Nova Icària is about 415 m long and sits just past the Olympic Port. The council calls it one of the city's quietest beaches, and local press calls it one of the most family-friendly. It has a playground, volleyball courts, adapted showers and toilets, lockers, a first-aid post and an assisted bathing area. It holds a Blue Flag. It is the furthest of the five from the ship, so it suits a long call, not a short one.

Which beach for which day
- Short call: Sant Miquel or Barceloneta. Fifteen minutes from the Cruise Bus, and you can add the Gothic Quarter on the way.
- Families: Nova Icària, for the playground and quieter sand, if you have time for the 40-minute walk.
- Most space: Somorrostro or Sant Sebastià, both wider and less crowded by day than Barceloneta.
- Combine with sightseeing: Gothic Quarter or El Born in the morning, then a swim at Sant Miquel. Both are close to the Cruise Bus stop.
When to head back
The guide's rule is to be at the Cruise Bus stop by the World Trade Center 75 minutes before all-aboard: 16:15 for a 17:30 sailing. The ride is 10 minutes, but on days with four or more ships the afternoon queue can add 20–30 minutes, and you still have to walk through the terminal and security. If your ship is at the World Trade Center terminals, be back at the Columbus Monument 70 minutes before all-aboard; the beach times above still work.
What goes wrong: people leave the return to the last half hour, and the queue is long. If it is, take a taxi from the rank by the Columbus Monument; it is about 10 minutes to Adossat outside rush hour. The ship has no obligation to wait for independent travellers. If you will be late, call the port agent number on your daily programme.

FAQ
Is there a beach near Barcelona cruise port?
Yes. Sant Miquel and Barceloneta are about 15 minutes on foot from the Cruise Bus stop by the World Trade Center. The Cruise Bus from Moll Adossat costs €3.50 one way or €5 return (2026).
Can I walk to the beach from Barcelona cruise port?
From the World Trade Center terminals, yes. From Moll Adossat, take the Cruise Bus first. The walk from Adossat to the Columbus Monument alone is 25–45 minutes, with no shade.
Are there sunbeds and how much are they?
All five beaches have deckchair and parasol hire in season. We could not find a checked 2026 price. Bring a card and some cash.
Do I need water shoes?
Not for these five. They are sand beaches. The Fòrum bathing area, further east, has no sand and a sea urchin colony, so wear suitable shoes there.
Are there lifeguards out of season?
Only in season. In 2026 lifeguards worked 10:30–19:30 from 30 May to 13 September, and 10:30–18:30 in spring and late September. Outside those periods there is no lifeguard service, only the 112 emergency number. Out of season, public toilets are open only at Sant Sebastià, Somorrostro, Bogatell and Nova Mar Bella, 10:00–19:00.
Is Barcelona a tender port?
No. All cruise ships dock, at Moll Adossat or the World Trade Center terminals.
